We know it
sounds crazy, but it s a great opportunity to do something new, meet someone
new and try some new food.
The concept is very interesting: Five people who don't know each other meet at a secret place and have special dinner prepare by NY Top Vegan Chef. The only thing that you need to do is to fill in the application form, which you can find on the following link. If you are selected, you will have an amazing experience and chance to attend EAT & MEET dinner for free. Also, you are encouraged to leave some donation that will be used for preparation of next dinners.
The host of
this interesting event is Nana Amma Serwaa Gyamfi. Ghanaian girl coming from
New York, who is one of the few vegans in Ghana. One day, she wants to open a
restaurant in Ghana, but she doesn't want to publish a book with her recipes.
The idea is to keep all the recipes as a secret and give them to her children.
You can check out Nanna's cuisine on the link.
It is all
about food. That's at least one thing that connects all those strangers before
the visit – the desire to discover African food.
The menu is
always confidential and will be revealed at the event.
We had an
opportunity to try the following:
Appetizers: We
had very simple one – peanuts. It s the tradition in Ghana to serve them to the
guests and every home always has it. Beside that, we had oranges, which
represented the hint for dessert.
Main course:
We had vegan fish spicy stew served with rice balls.
Dessert:
According to the hint that we got during the appetizers, for dessert we got
sweet Ghanaian cream dessert, named Orange Fool. Hmm, that was so delicious.
What we have learnt about Ghana?
In Ghana, when
having a dinner everyone is sitting on the floor, except the guest who has a
privilege to have a small chair. It is allowed and desirable to eat with
fingers, but using just one hand (and the other one should be under the table).
The guest is the first one who put the meal on its plate, following with
men, children and in the end women.
People usually
don't talk during the meal.
In the end, we
would like to say that EAT & MEET is a great chance to meet new interesting
people. The slogan of the EAT & MEET concept is: Where strangers arrive and
friends leave. And we should admit that is 100% true!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI need to react about your article as I have been rip off by this Cheffe. She was supposed to organise a dinner in Paris and I paid for my seat about a month in advance. The event was cancelled and relocated in Chicago on the same date septembre 3rd, 2017 without even a word to those who have booked. When I ask for explanation to her staff (M. Isaiah Belman) I was first told that I can be reimbursed and after insisting for it they finally refused saying that the event will be rescheduled some day in 2018. I insisted as I don't want to attend anymore and they stopped to answer to my email. I tried to reach them by facebook and instagram but I have been blocked and my comments deleted. So people please be careful as this seems to be a fraud.
We also have found this to be a scam / con, and we attended the dinner in Detroit last night. Unfortunately, the chef is very good at managing her social media presence which is why it is so difficult to find independent reviews. Save your money to support another new chef.
ReplyDeleteSame here!!!! This is a complete scam!!!!
